Zion's vision is to improve the quality of life of community residents through programs that motivate and educate persons in need of emotional, economic, physical and social support. NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS: Since January 2008 Zion has housed an NA chapter. This peer group supports addicts seeking to remain drug-free find a new way to live. The Chapter meets on Saturdays from 6pm to 8:30pm. Contact the church at 215-468-6489 for questions or additional information.


PARENTING SKILLS WORKSHOPS: Funding is being sought to provide classes in holistic child rearing, with instruction in Healthy Nutrition, Parent Homework Assistance, Family Management and Computer Literacy. Parents who regularly attend the workshop and are active in their child's school activities receive various incentives and rewards, including family vacations at the end of the school year. SUMMER DAY CAMP: In collaboration with Diversified Community Services, Zion sponsors a program of recreational and educational activities for South Philadelphia youth ages 6-13 from June to August. The goal of the program is to provide school-aged youth with quality experiences that will prepare them to function and compete in society. Each child will be provided a safe, supportive and fun environment through a range of structured activities.


SENIOR PROGRAM: Zion provides resources and activities for retired and sixty-five and older persons. Events such as eating-together and trips keep seniors active and connected.


KARATE CLASSES: United Martial Arts karate classes for ages 7 to 80 will start in September 2008. Moderate fees apply. Please call (845) 760-0585 for more information.


HEALTH EDUCATION: Zion has partnered with Community Health & Education Outreach (CHEO) to offer health education resources and rapid HIV testing to the community. Currently, CHEO offers health education every 2nd Wednesday of the month at the church from 10:00a.m. to 12 noon. A Health Fair will be held on the 3rd Saturday in July (check the church bulletin, flyers, neighborhood newspapers and this Website for more information.) Free rapid HIV testing will be offered.
